STYLING

Can I get a hat custom designed?

Yes, Maggie has successfully worked with clients around the world to create unique pieces just for them.

The process starts with a design consultation.   Maggie then takes this information and creates designs for you, once agreed, payment is made in advance and Maggie will create your hat.

You will get images and updates along the way.

Can I try before I buy?

Yes, you can make an appointment  to visit The Edinburgh Hat Boutique to try some styles under the expert guidance of Maggie to help you make the right decision.  Maggie Mowbray Millinery is located at Summerhall, Edinburgh, EH9 1PL.

Unfortunately due to the made to order nature of our hats, it is not possible to try before you buy online.

Can you match this hat to my dress?

Yes, we can match colours if you send us a swatch, or vice versa. Even better, Maggie can advise on which style would be good for your dress or outfit too!

How do I wear my hat?

Your hat will attach with either millinery elastic and a comb, a hairband or unique wire fitting designed for your specific hat style.

How do I attach my veil?

The small clip simply pushes open, push the curve till it pops open, then slide this forwards into your hair and press to close. We have a useful video guide here.

How do I measure my head?

Please visit our Hat Fitting Guide for information.

I don't know which hats suit me, can you help?

Yes, a hat is like any other piece of clothing, everyone suits certain styles and not others!  We have an online guide to help you make decisions regarding your face shape and hat shapes and styles which will suit.  However, feel free to get in touch for advice.r

My hair is really fine, how can I get a comb to stay?

We use two types of comb.  Metal toothed combs or small snap clips, both are often combined with elastic for added securing.

The snap clips, where applicable are very strong and will not move once in position.

Both if attached correctly will be very secure.

I have big hair, can you suggest a hat to suit?

Absolutely!  Maggie would be happy to help with suggestions.
