hat hire terms and conditions

Please read this agreement carefully. 

By hiring a hat from Maggie Mowbray Millinery, you agree that you understand and accept  these Terms and Conditions in full

This agreement is made between You (The Hirer) and Maggie Mowbray Millinery (Us/Our/We).

1. Hire Terms

  1. The hat(s) remain the property of Maggie Mowbray Millinery at all times.
  2. The hire fee of the hat is payable in full within 24 hours of your reservation being accepted.
  3. Hats are hired per occasion/event and per person and for use on one day only. If it transpires that more than one person has worn the hat or the has been worn more than one event, an additional hire fee will be deducted from your card.
  4. Hire periods are from Wednesday to Tuesday. Your hat will be posted out on a Tuesday and must be received back in the showroom, by post only, by the following Tuesday by 1pm.
  5. Our cut off for request is Monday 2pm pm for hire the same week.
  6. Once a hat has been taken for hire it is considered a hire even if not worn for any reason.
  7. The hire fee is non refundable, there will be no refunds for hats not worn, events cancelled, unsuitable for outfit/occasion or any other reason with the exception of Us not being able to fulfil your request (see section 4).
  8. Maggie Mowbray Millinery will not be liable for any delay or failure to deliver due to circumstances which are out of Our control; or for any damage or injury caused by the misuse of Our goods.
  9. The liabilities of The Hirer commence at the time the hired hat(s) are collected from our premises or posted to your address, and continue until they are returned to the premises.
  10. You are responsible for ensuring you have provided the correct address and someone is available to sign for the hat on receipt, we will not post to PO Box addresses.
  11. We only hire hats to customers in the UK or who provide a UK address, the hat must not be taken outside the UK.

2. Billing

  1. When you hire a hat you will be required pay an invoice for the full hire amount to Maggie Mowbray Millinery including postage/courier costs (Royal Mail Special Delivery) and a deposit to the value of one week hire.
  2. If your hat is not returned on the due return date agreed when the hire was arranged, Maggie Mowbray Millinery will retain the deposit as an additional weekly hire fee. If you fail to return the hat by the following Tuesday we will charge your credit card the remainder up to the full purchase price of the hat plus an additional restocking fee of £75.
  3. If the hat/hats are damaged, as determined by Maggie Mowbray Millinery, you agree that We will deduct any damages from your deposit and may charge you for the full cost of replacing the hat as well as charge you the full amount of any lost earnings or incurred costs resulting from the damage. The product replacement fee will vary depending on the specifics of each hat and its amount is to the full discretion of Maggie Mowbray Millinery. Please familiarise yourself with our Hat care terms.
  4. If the hat is lost you will be billed the remainder for the full cost of the item plus a restocking fee of £75, we strongly suggest you purchase insurance while the hat is in transit.
  5. By agreeing to Our Hat Hire Terms and Conditions you are permitting Us to charge your payment method with the hire cost plus postage and including any additional costs limited to and outlined in this agreement at any time.

3. Hat Care

  1. Keep the hat dry, keep it under an umbrella at all times when it is raining and be aware of certain fabrics and features of hats being more susceptible to weather damage in bad conditions. Maggie Mowbray Millinery reserves the right to charge for damages if the item is returned marked or damaged in any way. This includes but is not limited to holes, dents, stains and rain marks. (Please see section 2. Billing).
  2. Under no circumstances are customers to attempt to clean any hats themselves by any means. Maggie Mowbray Millinery reserves the right to invoice for part or full replacement value of the items and charge you the full amount of any potential lost earnings or incurred costs relating to damage caused.
  3. If the hat is damaged beyond repair, lost or stolen then the full purchase price would be paid by the hirer.
  4. Should a previous hirer not return a hat you have booked to hire or it is damaged, Maggie Mowbray Millinery will endeavour to find a good and suitable replacement. Liability is limited to the return of the hire charge if a suitable alternative is not available.
  5. If returning hats by post/courier hats must be posted securely and insured to the value of the hat, using the same boxes the hat was delivered in, please do not tape directly to the hat box, damaged hat boxes will incur a £10 fee, please use a tracked service.
  6. It is very important you pay attention to how the hat was packaged on receipt. The hat will be packed in such a way that details will be secure and remain intact. Failure to repack the hat as received may result in the hat being damaged and requiring repair.
  7. Care must be taken to avoid makeup, cosmetics or stains coming into contact with the hat.

4. Privacy

This privacy policy sets out how Maggie Mowbray Millinery uses and protects any information that you give Us when you hire a hat from Maggie Mowbray Millinery.

  1. Maggie Mowbray Millinery collects personal information when you place an order. By registering, you are consenting to the collection of your personal data.
  2. If an order is placed we need to hold personal information, including your name, email address, phone number, home and shipping address.
  3. When you pay your invoice your card details are encrypted and We have no access to them.
  4. By paying the invoice you are agreeing to Maggie Mowbray Millinery charging your card solely and exclusively for any of the instances set out above.
  5. Your address and telephone number may be shared with delivery companies.
  6. We may use the information to improve our products and services.
  7. We may periodically send promotional emails about new hats, products and services, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided.
